Aims

Covering the wide range of topics required by the amendments, from the investigation of historical events driving the legislation, to its practical applications ensuring the continued airworthiness of affected aircraft, the course aims to succinctly and clearly communicate a complex and dynamic subject.

The objectives of the course are:

1. To familiarise delegates with the elements of fuel system safety issues including its language, history and practical considerations.
2. To equip candidates in their everyday tasks to account for the challenges posed by the Fuel Tank System Safety issues.

This course is aimed at Management, Quality Assurance Personnel and staff directly involved in the certification of aircraft and component maintenance in Part M & Part 145 organisations. Also Management, Inspectors and Auditors of Competent Authorities.

• Latest recommendations as well as refresher training satisfying Part 145 and Part M continuation training requirements
• Major accidents and accident investigations and their conclusions involving fuel tank system safety, including TWA flight 800
• Theoretical background to fuel tank system safety issues
• The concept of Ignition source prevention
• The concept of flammability reduction
• Background to and objectives of SFAR 88 and INT/POL/25/12 and TGL 47 – CDCCLs, Airworthiness Limitations, Modifications 
• Changes to Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness and their availability to and use by maintenance personnel
• The purpose and hazards of Flammability Reduction Systems
• Case Studies include recent incidents and evidence of continuing un-safe conditions in fuel tank system installations
