Course Outline
Aims
The Aim of the course is to summarise the causes in an effort to learn lessons from the accidents and to review the rules which have arisen from the investigations as well as review the resulting structures programme changes arising from the accidents.
Objectives
The objectives of the course are:
- To explore the significant lessons learned including that airplane structure ageing effects cannot always be conclusively determined at type certification; the structural integrity requires dedicated management throughout the life of the airplane.
Benefits
The benefits of attending the course are:
- To give delegates details of recent rule making initiatives which have resulted in significant developments which require operators to assess structure repairs, carry out records reviews and modify maintenance programmes. Each of these topics is covered by the course as well as the documented programmes developed for pre-damage tolerant/fail safe structures.
Who Should Attend
This course is aimed at airworthiness engineers as well as aircraft maintenance inspectors, managers and supervisors.
Key Topics
The key topics of the course are:
- Major accidents and accident investigations and their conclusions involving structural integrity
- Theoretical background to structure integrity requirements
- Type Certification requirements and maintenance programme development methodology - Maintenance Steering Group (MSG) structures assessment logic
- Structures programmes for ageing structures
- Supplemental Structures Programmes
- Corrosion Prevention Control Programmes
- Wide Spread Fatigue Damage
- Repair Assessment Programmes
- Inspection standards and the training of inspectors – the role of the maintenance organisation
